CF recently completed a research project for the Wellcome Trust, in collaboration with the Pankhurst Institute, exploring the barriers to successful translation of digital health technologies from academia.
We engaged with developers, digital health experts, health organisations and advocates from over 20 countries and reviewed over 100 publications to understand the barriers faced when translating DHTs from early stage development through to implementation. We identified 7 high-level barriers to successful translation, and developed 7 corresponding recommendations to increase translation of DHTs, which apply not only to funders like Wellcome but also to the, healthcare systems such as the NHS and Life Sciences organisations.
