We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Mel Walker as our new Life Sciences advisor. A seasoned veteran in the biopharma and digital health sectors and known for his patient-focused, evidence-based approach and a steadfast commitment to innovation, Mel brings a wealth of expertise and proven leadership skills to CF.
Mel’s illustrious career includes the founding of BioPharma Futures in 2020, a forward-thinking initiative that supports clinical stage companies in the creation of products targeting significant unmet needs. Through BioPharma Futures, he has made immense strides in preparing promising companies for global launches, lucrative partnerships, and strategic acquisitions.
In the two decades preceding BioPharma Futures, Mel held pivotal early and late phase commercial roles at leading pharmaceutical companies like Otsuka, GSK, and Roche. During this time, he launched numerous products in a variety of therapeutic areas across the UK, Europe, and globally. His responsibilities over ten years as a senior executive spanned global R&D, business development, digital health, and corporate strategy. He has capably led teams in areas such as commercial launch, pipeline strategy, market access, pricing, health economics, evidence generation, patient advocacy, and public affairs.
A strong believer in fostering creativity and learning within diverse work environments, Mel co-authored over 30 research papers and abstracts and two book chapters. He frequently chairs international conferences, further cementing his standing as a thought leader in his field. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Pharmacy and a PHD in Health Outcomes.
